I also wrote a song to pair with the two pages! Check it out:

Seems like some complicated magic going on. A magic user, an amulet, a flower, and a song. The amulet could be a classic channeling device for Lovette. At first glance, the song seems like it’d be simply a version of the vocal component of spells that is used in a lot of settings, but the fact that two others joined in suggests something more. It’s possible that they also have healing powers and are both literally and figuratively resonating their powers together. But it could also imply that they are trying to invoke an outside power to help intervene. Now the flower is throwing me for a bit of a loop. I thought it was a mana potion of sorts, nothing complicated, and Terra asking for it to preserve her strength seems to affirm that. Looking at the process, however, it seems like it’s more involved than that. Earlier she mentioned a ‘phoenix salve extract,’ which maybe that’s what this flower is? An actual source of reviving power that Lovette is channeling magic through.
Either way! It seems to have worked! I don’t see the blight on their chest in the last panel. Surgery a success, doc.
Very nice tune, too! Is the voice synth, or were you able to get someone to sing it, (possibly yourself)?
(Also, I forgot that the soundcloud plugin would reset the song when I turned to the next page. xp)
You’re right! There’s lots of layers! Customs, resonance devices, and many other things are at work here. I won’t go into all of it in detail, but seeing as I’m not going to expand upon this particular instance within the context of the comic:
The flower (it is a special Blue Hibiscus, not a phoenix extract salve [that was applied earlier]) and its oils are being used to offset the personal energy cost of the spell, as well as a material component to fight against the blight. The amulet and the gems on its face help amplify the magic, and the singing helps set the emotional state for the caster (in this case, Terra) to form the spell. The other doctors are simply joining in out of the hospital’s customs to reinforce Terra’s training.
I wish I’d had the voice recorded, but it’s only a synth (a very cool synth, though)!
Where are the page navigation buttons?
I figured out by accident that swiping a finger across the image will bring up the previous or nexn page.
The navigation buttons should be above and below the comic image, although they might be a little small for phone resolutions. I apologize for not having the website appropriately optimized for mobile at this moment!
I had enabled swipe-based navigation in the hopes that this would somewhat relieve the optimization issues. I’ll look into a more functional fix!
Quick follow-up! I disabled the swipe-navigation and put in some (placeholder) navigation images! I hope they stand out enough for you to use them. Thank you for the prior feedback, and please let me know if this change helps!
Thanks very much!
The fix is greatly appreciated.
Little late, here.
But congratulations on getting your own site. Looking great!
Personally I prefer my reading on mobile to be button navigation. I tend to end up switching pages unwanted when swiping is enabled, just trying to scroll the page.
Great zeal!
i find it hard to tell what geandr each charther is?
I do my best to ensure each character is properly referred to by their preferred pronouns, and for the sake of the readers, these tend to align with their gender and gender expression.
Because of the nature of my setting, however, gender isn’t necessarily important, and so clothing frequently does not correlate to gender. Terra is a woman, and wears robes, but the robes are the general attire of the Healers Guild, and so Darren (the antelope) wears them too.
The presence or absence of breasts may help determine a character’s gender, but this is by no means a strict rule. Hope this helps!
yeah it did thanks
also on the first page WHAT IN GODS NAME IS THAT THING!!!
you did a good job on it though
